,1 INLEIDING
1.1 ORTHOPEDAGOGIEK?
De orthopedagogiek is, in Vlaanderen en Nederland, één van de disciplines binnen de pedagogische
wetenschappen (Broekaert, 2005) en betreft een volwaardige, autonome discipline met een
specifieke eigenheid (Noens, 2016). Ze bestudeert op een wetenschappelijke wijze het handelen in
als problematisch omschreven opvoedingssituaties. De orthopedagogiek is daarmee niet louter
gericht op de studie en de behandeling van individuele stoornissen en beperkingen, maar op het
handelen in de gehele problematische opvoedingssituatie met een bijzondere aandacht voor de
context (Broekaert, 2005; Maes et al., 2013).
