A problem I found with the system for Critically Endangered was users only
having to input the password once when creating an account. This could be a
problem for users because they might mistype the password the first time and
not know about it. If this happens, they will have to reset their password and
would become frustrate. To avoid this, creating an account for Critically
Endangered should require users to input a password twice, so they can make
sure what they typed is what they wanted.
Another problem I found with the evidence was the team, for Critically
Endangered, not telling their customers about the increase in compromised
accounts. I found this to be a problem because their users should be aware that
their system is having compromising problems, so they can take security
precisions themselves. If a problem with their system happens again, the users
of the game should be told of the details to enable them to have a full
understanding of the situation.
The final problem I found with the evidence was that there was no mention of IP
addresses. They could’ve looked at the IP addresses for the compromised
accounts to see where they were being signed into. This would allow the
Critically Endangered Team to know the location of the hackers and get an idea
of who they are. If a situation like this happened again, they should look into the
IP addresses to enable them to locate the problem makers and proceed with an
investigation.
