The types of reason for possible abuse
M1: Assess the likely immediate efforts of two different forms of abuse on the health and
wellbeing of adults.
D1: Evaluate the potential long-term effects of these two types of abuse on the health and
wellbeing of adults.
Sexual abuse – the disturbance that ensure after sexual physical attack / rape which may
reveal itself as soon as after event or typically a period after event. Short term effect that
may be experienced by rape or sexual assault survivors can be a follow:
Shame – Survivor of sexual assault or rape may believe that they are unclean, continues
flawed or bad.
Boundaries – Many survivors are not sure about their personal boundaries or that they
posses right to have them and lot of survivors require support in practising and progress
boundaries.
Isolation – isolation is coving issue regarding adult survivors of rape or sexual physical
attacks/ assault. Majority of survivors feel they are not worth of support and that other
people will not want relationship with them. In some part of world sexual assault survivor
do not voice their ordeal in fear of having judgemental brought upon themselves and their
family with many rejects from their own communities.
Minimizing – Some sexual abuse and rape survivor will minimise their ordeal believes that
their expense was not serious as another person. This is coping mechanism. Rape and sexual
attract councillor must verify impact of situation and inform survivor that it is completely
fitting that they be distress, worried and injured from it.
Guilt – Survivor often feel as though rape or sexual assaults was their happening. It is

form of PTA which are retrograde amnesia (loss of memory from shortly before event) and
anterograde amnesia (issue with form new memories after incident).
Denial – Some survivor may be denying or what happen and hold back emotions that are
typically felt after sexual attract. Survivor deny may use phrase such as I am fine, or it was
not bad.
Physical – Some survivor of sexual abuse may secular complaint, difficulty in concentrate,
eating disturbance and anxiety or physical sign of abuse on body after assault such as anal
or vaginal bleedings.
Emotional – survivor of sexual abuse may be very deeply felt in emotion example sadness or
aggression. This may become confuse example disbelief or may become control example
calm. Emotional survivor may experience some type of depression which can lead to abuse
or suicide attempt if serious.
Safety – Sexual attacker victim may not realistically view regard their safety, recognise
unsafe situation as safe and view safe situation as unsafe. Ensure safety of sexual assault
survivor is especially important this can be asking question such as is anyone hurting you?

Trust – Sexual abuse, rape or sexual attack is a complete bad faith of trust. Most survivor of
these incidents find it challenging to trust other peoples because of this may be also
challenging for them to trust themselves or observe. Some survivors are opposite they may
place inappropriate amount of trust in people they experience. Sexual attack survivor may
find challenging in relationship sexually and find difficult to sexually connection with another
person after wards which could cause pressure on some relationship.
Cognitive – Survivor may find challenging to express thought of incident they may even not
remember parts of it. Survivor may feel they could have done not something wrong.
Nightmare is to be expected after sexual assault are discuss emotion and intellect. Survivor
also may find themselves in imaginary scenario like assault and could not be able to
overcome situation.
Anaesthesia – Victim of sexual assault may try to separate or not feeling themselves from
their bodies, so abuse is not remembered because some victims feel betrayed from their
body as its where sexual assault happened.
Dissociation – Survivor of sexual abuse have separate theme else during incidents, this may
not take place during incident but also after when they remember abuse can be situation by
memory or incident.
Long term effect in relation to sexual abuse involves unhealthy and healthy difficult
situation plans which can be either harmful example substance abuse and eating disorder
and self-harm or productive example social support. Short term effect may protect changes
in survivors lifestyles permanently. Long term effects may include:
Emotional problems – Survivor may develop serious emotional difficulties for months or
even years after abuse this can be violent anger, low self-esteem or low self-confidence.
Also, it can be remarkably high anxiety or depression and sadness. Pervious to incident
survivor can have in control of emotion which after may develop mood swings and become
more sensitive to their emotion.
Physical health – physical health of survivor can be affect in the long terms as distress cause
by incident may cause eating disorder such as hardly eat or over eat this can lead to obesity
example which will cause tightness on joints causing pain.
Paranoia – Sexual abuse survivor may develop paranoia as long-term result of abuse as long
term result of abuse may be cause survivor to feel unsafe and believes that offender is still
threat to themselves and may be even begin search for offender everywhere they go.
Relationships – The close relationship of survivor may affect in long term this can be
relationship between parent and their child/children or relationship between couple. The
Survivors may become pregnant and given birth due to assault and find difficult to care for
child as doing so will be valid reminder of offensive. This also cause hate between parent
and child and parent may find difficult to bong with children due to assault or single parent
become depress and unable to care for their child. Relationship between couple may
become stressful this can be due to sexual side of relationship. Survivor may feel as though
they are not ready to continue with the aspect of relationship of may be feel frighten being
around opposite sex due to assault.
Communication – Communication can become challenging as they may become unsociable
which in some case cause people to not speak. This will make communication very tough as
they are not able to communicate verbally example this can make therapy hard where
feedback and discuss emotion, thoughts and feelings is healthy.
