Tractus digestivus
Het grootste deel van de tractus digestivus zit in het abdomen. De buikholte wordt
beschermd door botten (ribben en os iliaca), maar voornamelijk voorgegeven door spieren,
ook aan de achterkant.
Tegenwoordig worden buikoperaties laparoscopisch gedaan.

Buikwandbekleding (peritoneum of buikvlies)
Het peritoneum bestaat uit 3 delen:
1. Parietaal peritoneum
2. Visceraal peritoneum
3. Mesenterium (= verbinding met de buikwand)
Door het mesenterium gaan arterien, venen, zenuwbanen, lymfen heen en vetweefsel is
erin opgeslagen.
De ligging van organen
De ligging van organen ten opzichte van het peritoneum heeft 3 opties:
1. Intraperitoneaal
2. Retroperitoneaal
3. Subperitoneaal
, Retroperoteniaal kan primair en secundair. Primair retroperoteniaal is achter het
peritoneum ontstaan en altijd achter blijven.
Voorbeelden: aorta, nieren
Secundair houdt in dat ze intraperitoneaal in de buikholte ontstaan zijn maar later is
vergroeid met de achterwand en achter het peritoneum ligt.
