Introduction
My role is unique within North Wales Police and has been developed by
myself to fulfil the functions of both Resources Unit and Training Managers.
The Resources Unit is responsible for the management of duties, allocation of
staffing to operations and training for Central Division. The Unit and roles
within it have been developed over the past five years by myself with the
assistance of my staff.
As the manager, I have the responsibilities of developing and managing my
staff (and systems) in accordance with individual and organisational
objectives as mentioned previously as the responsibilities of the unit. This is
especially challenging given the organisation having devolved the
development and progression of systems and processes to each territorial
division.
As the team leader I have been responsible for the introduction and
implementation of many new initiatives and procedures and have played an
instrumental role in providing guidance to the systems managers for our
software’s and to Projects who have been responsible for supporting and
creating policy with regards to Resource Management throughout the force.
In summary, my team and I have been instrumental in attempting to bring
corporacy to systems and procedures in an area which is little understood
whilst receiving minimal support either financially or through staffing. I
therefore provide a vital role in suggesting and then relaying agreed force
procedures and aims to my staff to ensure the success of the unit.

(SOPs) (Appendix 1) that I have in turn tutored my staff to complete
