What social psychology studies

Social psychology is that part of psychology that studies a person's behaviors, his
mental states, that is, emotions and thoughts, and his mental processes, the mental
activities that are behind our behaviors. Social psychology is not limited to the study
of the person but of all his behaviors inserted, influenced and that try to influence the
social way that surrounds him. For this, we can define social psychology as the study
of the person of his behaviors inserted in the context with his rules and with the other
individuals that compose it.

What is "the Self"

The self is the reflective capacity of the person added to the social identity or the
internal and external perception that the individual has about himself, for social
psychology it is very difficult to define the self for this reason, to reconcile the
subject with the item. A first definition of self is given by James who defines the self
as a union between the knowing self (me), an active and intentional part of the self
and the known self (me), i.e. when the person becomes an object that reflects itself in
the others. In addition, having a dynamic nature, the self evolves and changes
according to the context in which it grows. There are so many selves: material;
spiritual, beliefs ideas of a person; social all the roles we have in society; collective
global membership more general; cultural, differences and characteristics typical of
certain social groups.
