VOORKEURSPLAATSEN voor caries:
1. De fissuren (groeven): smal en diep hoe dieper de groeven, hoe
makkelijk er voedselresten achterblijven. fissuren zijn in de occlusale
vlakken van (pre)molaren meeste caries op dit gebied
2. Approximale vlakken: de ruimte onder het contactpunt= interdentale
ruimte = moeilijk te reinigen tandenborstel is hierdoor moeilijk
toegankelijk
Gevolg= voedselresten blijven achter,ontstaat caries
3. Cervicale vlakken: bevinden zich net boven het tandvlees, glazuurlaag erg
dun, kwetsbaar
4. Worteloppervlakken: als gingiva zich terug trekt wortel komt bloot
teliggen wortel bedekt met wortelcement en dentine.
Ontbrekende glazuurlaag maakt wortel vatbaar voor caries
Wortelcaries bij oudere patienten, en jongere patienen waar gingiva
teruggetrokken is.
VERLOOP VAN HET CARIESPROCES:
1 fase: zullen door de zuren glazuurdeeltjes worden opgelost. is ontkalking
Ontkalking geen definitieve beschadiging van glazuur ontkalking kan zich
herstellen
Speeksel bevat mineralen in opgeloste vorm mineralen vervangen opgeloste
glazuurdeeltjes en ontkalking is ongedaan gemaakt
Bij Onvoldoende mondhygiene meer glazuur wordt opgelost gevolg: gaatje
Dentine zachter dan glazuur snel uitbereiding van caries in dentine
Caries media(gevorderde caries)= als caries al een stuk in de dentine zit
Caries profunda= als caries tot dicht bij de pulpa zit
Caries diagnostiek= het vaststellen van caries
Oppervlakkige caries= als de caries tot net in dentine zit
