§1.1 Filosofisch denken
Er wordt gedacht dat iemand die snel denkt erg slim is, terwijl langzaam denken vaak beter
en betrouwbaarder is. In het boek Thinking, Fast and slow van Daniel Kahneman (2012)
beschrijft twee systemen: System 1: Snel maar onbetrouwbaar
System 2: Langzaam maar betrouwbaar

§1.2 Wat is wetenschap?
De strijd tegen bijgeloof = de wetenschap de hersenen zijn van nature niet gemaakt om
wetenschappelijke waarheden te vinden. De menselijke geest is van nature geneigd tot
denkfouten en bijgeloof
§1.3 Logica
Een argument = een syllogisme
Een argument heeft altijd twee onderdelen, namelijk de premisses en de conclusie.
Truth preservation: Bij een logisch valide argument leiden ware premisses altijd tot
ware conclusies.
Niet alle premisses zijn waar, waardoor de conclusie onwaar is. De logica van het argument
klopt, maar er zit een onwaarheid in de inhoud waardoor de conclusie niet klopt.
Niet alle onware premisses leiden tot een onware conclusie, dit is een geval van
toeval/geluk.
Logica gaat over de vorm van het argument!
Alle mensen zijn sterfelijk
Socrates is een mens
Dus Socrates is sterfelijk
Alle A zijn B
X is een A
Dus X is B
A = mens
B = sterfelijk
X = Socrates
Een logisch valide vorm kan je dus gebruiken voor allerlei inhoud, het maakt niet echt uit wat
je hiervoor invult. Hierbij blijft wel gelden dat als er een onjuiste premisse gebruikt wordt de
conclusie niet altijd juist blijft. Dit wordt modus ponens genoemd.
Modus tollens ziet er als volgt uit:

Dus Messi is geen basketballer
Iedereen die A is, is B
X is niet B
Dus X is niet A
A = basketballer
B = lang
X = Messi
Bevestiging van de consequent:
