This is the Study Guide used in class with my added notes. This includes a summary of all the different sections of Theft, including cases, judgements and explanations.
, Theft
Theft is defined under section 1 of the Theft Act 1968:
“A person is guilty of theft if he
dishonestly appropriates property
belonging to another with the
intention of permanently depriving the
other of it”
Additional sections in the Theft Act 1968 go on to help define the language in
section 1:
Section 2 – Dishonestly (MR)
Section 3 – Appropriates (AR)
Section 4 – Property (AR)
Section 5 – Belonging to another (AR)
Section 6 – Intention to permanently deprive the other of it (MR)
AR = appropriates property belonging
to another
MR = Dishonesty + intent to
permanently deprive
