Thorax:
- Bescherming organen maar dat beperkt beweging thoracale wervelkolom
- Sternum en borstbeen
- 12 paar ribben: 1-2 (platte ribben) 11-12 (zwevende ribben)
- Costovertebrale (rib en wervelkolom, posterior) en costosternale (rib en
sternum, anterior) verbindingen
Thoracale wervel
- Corpus vertebrae: wordt naar caudaal steeds groter en dikker
- 2 pedicullen
- Lamina arcus vertebrae met proc. Articularis superior en inferior
- Processus spinosi: steeds langer naar caudaal toe, lopen dakpansgewijs
(zorgt dat beweeglijkheid thoracaal zeer beperkt is vb. bij extensie gaan
ze tegen elkaar botsen)
- Processus transversi: lopen naar dorsaal en lateraal, worden korter naar
caudaal toe, gaan articuleren met ribben
- Canalis vertebralis: wordt naar caudaal toe groter want ruggenmerg
wordt dikker om de plexussen te kunnen vormen voor de ledematen
Thoracale facetgewrichten:
- Synoviale gewricht: synoviaal vocht, vetweefsel, menicoide plooien en kapsel
- Variatie qua vorm en oriëntatie
- Gevormd door processus articularis inferior (ventraal, beetje naar mediaal en caudaal,
concaaf) van bovenliggende wervel en processus articularis superior (dorsaal, lateraal en
craniaal, convex) van onderliggende wervel.
- Georiënteerd met 60° t.o.v. het transversale vlak en 20° t.o.v. het frontale vlak
- Functie: beweging bepalen door articuleren met bovenste en
onderliggende wervels
