MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE IN TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS
There are many students who are having a hard time coping up in schools. Since students
are having a hard time coping up, some students are more likely to fail their subjects, and
some are likely to drop out of school. The Kabataang Pilipino Organization highly agrees
that in teaching-learning process, mother tongue should be used. A program called Mother
Tongue is a subject that helps the learners to be able to comprehend their own native language
further and better. There are many profits to Mother Tongue that you can gain. This organization
aims to support the usage of mother tongue language in teaching-learning process, because it
helps many students to much more gain a confidence in participating in classes, and it can
enhance their thinking skills. Using of mother tongue language can also help in learning other
languages.
Some will say that there is nothing that you can gain in using mother tongue language in
teaching-learning process and it is not important to use at all. But for people, or specifically
minorities whose foundation in their first language is solid, as they grow old they will have a
great understanding of themselves, and they will learn to involve their selves in society, politics
by knowing where to stand, they will also grow with confidence. This will flow to them naturally
and they will get used to it in their daily lives and this will include their academic performance.
Science and Math abilities can be easily developed if children already know their first language.
Dialect is very easy to acquire, especially if it's your first language. People tend to pick up easily
their second vocabulary if they already know their first language. The Department of Education,
or also known as DepEd has found research in 2009 that the mother tongue has advantages if we
study it.

Nowadays, there are many cultures that is arising, and may Filipinos tend to easily embrace
different cultures such as the culture of Korea, Japan, and some other countries. If this will
continue our own culture might slowly disappear. That is why using our mother tongue language
in teaching-learning process can help to preserve our own culture.

lessons much better. Resources or instructional materials that are written in the mother tongue
helps the children or the student to pique their interests. Students can also understand better the
instructional materials, and if they are written using their mother tongue language, students can
easily remember things that have been taught. Through this, students can also easily participate
