Duration: 4 hours
EXAMINERS

Second: Ms RT Maduane-Komape
External: Prof OO Fatoki
This paper consists of 8 pages, including the cover pages.
Instructions:
1. This is an open-book assessment structured as a WRITTEN REPORT (similar to your
assignments).
2. Review the GUIDELINES FOR WRITING THE REPORT, on the next page, to understand how
to structure your submission.
3. Your report may NOT exceed 3 000 words (approximately TEN pages, EXCLUDING the table
of contents and list of references).
4. Reports received after the deadline will NOT be marked.
5. Ensure that you have a delivery receipt for your submission.
6. Do NOT contact the module lecturers for the release of your marks. Marks will be released
by the Directorate Student Assessment Administration, via myUnisa, on the “Examination
Results” tool.
WARNING:
1. The report that you submit must be an individual effort. Students are not allowed to work
with any other person to complete the report. If it is established that the report was not
completed individually, ZERO marks will be awarded and disciplinary action will be taken.
2. No plagiarism will be tolerated. Plagiarism is the act of taking the words, ideas and
thoughts of others and passing them off as your own.
3. All sources paraphrased should be correctly referenced (using the Harvard referencing
method). Any examples used in your answers that come from your own research MUST
have an in-text citation, together with a corresponding entry in the list of references.
,GUIDELINES FOR WRITING THE REPORT
• Arguments made should consist of a balance of theory and application. Therefore,
your arguments should be corroborated with examples from the case study.
• Arguments should have a logical flow. Vague statements and or half-truths have no
place in your report.
• Your work should be of a high technical standard. We have created a template that
may be used to support your work. You will find it under Additional Resources –
“Exam templates”.
• Create suitable headings in your report and a table of contents on the second page
(following the cover page).
• You report must be structured as follows: cover page, table of contents, executive
summary, body of report (including your own headings and in-text citations),
conclusion and a list of references (including your prescribed book).
o The cover pages should include the title of your report, the module code, your
name, surname, student number, contact details and the declaration of
originality.
o The table of contents must show the headings and sub-headings of each
section in your report. There should be no differences between the headings in
the report and those in the table of contents. Each heading must have a
corresponding page number for where to locate that section in the report.
o The executive summary explains what your report will cover, providing the
reader with a preview of the body of the document.
o The body of the report should be composed of a discussion under several
headings and subheadings. For each question, you must provide your own
heading. No bullet points are allowed – you must write in full sentences and
paragraphs. All sources consulted, including the prescribed book, must have
an in-text citation (plus the page numbers consulted in that source).
o The conclusion summarises what was discussed in your report – key findings
and recommendations.
o The list of references provides, in alphabetical order, the full list of sources
consulted in writing your report. These must be correct according to the
Harvard referencing method provided to you on the myUnisa module page.
• Review the assessment criteria on the next page to see how your report will be
assessed. Do not separate your answers into sections, but discuss them in an
integrated manner, as shown to you in Tutorial Letters 201 and 202.
