5. Dunne darm: bevat peptidasen voor vertering van eiwitten tot aminozuren. Ook bevat de dunne
darm disachariden voor de koolhydraatvertering.
6. Dikke darm: zorgt voor waterresorptie en is de plek waar voedingsvezels fermenteren.
