De functionaliteit van de anus
De functie van de anus is de gecontroleerde uitdrijving van uitwerpselen: voedingsmateriaal die de
mens niet kan verteren en waaruit voedingsstoffen zijn onttrokken (zoals cellulose), maar ook dode
of overtollige darmbacteriën en andere endosymbionten, verlaten het lichaam via de anus.

De anatomische bouw van de anus
De anus bestaat uit een rekbaar hol
orgaan en zowel vasculaire als musculaire
afsluitingsmechanismen inclusief
aansturing vanuit de zenuwen. De
angiomusculaire afsluitingsmechanismen
maken deel uit van een constructief nauw
systeem dat begint ter hoogte van de
flexura perinealis en zich langs het canalis
analis voortzet.

→ dit is de overgang naar het junctio
anorectalis
➢ Het canalis analis ligt onder
het junctio anorectalis en eindigt onderaan
met de anus.
Vanuit klinisch-functioneel oogpunt, maar
zeker ook op basis van anatomische
functionele aspecten (voorziening door vaten en
zenuwen, lymfedrainage) kan het canalis analis
worden beschouwd als het onderste deel van het
rectum.

naar anale kanaal)
