Aan alle voordelen zitten ook nadelen, zo ook aan het begrip gentrificatie.
Helaas als je het begrip online opzoekt krijg je talloze negatieve resultaten
en zeer weinig tot geen positieve. Daarbij kent gentrificatie vele negatieve
gevolgen zoals uitsluiting, verdringing door onbetaalbare (huur)woningen
enz... De positieve gevolgen zie of lees je niet zoveel. Wijken gaan door
gentrificatie, er economische gezien er enorm op vooruit. Straten worden
mooier door nieuwe voorzieningen en er komt meer werkgelegenheid door
nieuwe hippe koffietentjes. Hierbij wordt niet net als in Amerika de oude
bewoner zijn huis uitgezet, maar mag hij of zij hier gewoon blijven wonen
en neemt de maandelijkse huur met een normale stijging jaarlijks toe. Zo
is het al met al voor een wijk of buurt alleen maar beter en profiteert de
oude bewoner hier alleen maar van mee.
