The copyright, designs and patents act 1988 came into effect after July 31 1989
Copyright infringement is a civil matter and a tort – civil wrong for which monetary
damages may be awarded
You don’t have to apply for copyright – it automatically applies to anything you
produce
What is protected?

Copyright protects anything you use your skill, time and labour to produce
