Six Dimensions of Health
1. Physical Health: The efficiency of the body to function appropriately to maintain immunity to disease,

quantity and quality of nutrients available to the body including skeletal bones to hormones which is
composed of nutrients in various combinations
2. Intellectual health: The use of intellectual abilities to learn and to adapt to changes in ones environment.
(Use of intellectual abilities) Intellectual health relies on a well-functioning brain and central nervous
system (Know that nutritional imbalances can affect intellectual health such as iron deficiency can lead
to learning problems in children )
3. Emotional health: The capacity to easily express or suppress emotions appropriately. (Ability to control
emotions) Poor eating habits resulting in hypoglycemic may affect emotional health, which occurs
normally in anyone who is hungry. When hungry feelings of anxiety and con fusion and trembling occur.
4. Social Health: The ability to interact with people in an acceptable manner and sustain relationships with
family members, friends, and colleagues.(Interactions & relationships w/t others) Social health are
associated with food related keep in mind if the its an enjoyable or if it’s a tense ordeal and how it may
affect
5. Spiritual Health: The culture beliefs that give the purpose to human existence, found through faith in the
teachings of organized religions, in an understanding of nature or science, or in an acceptance of
humanistic view of life. (Cultural beliefs about the purpose of life)
6. Environmental Health: External factors that affect our health and well-being, including physical
connect within which ones lives and work are affected by determinants of ethnicity, education, income,
and occupation and extending to the larger environment of safe guarding natural resources to reduce
exposure to preventable hazards. (External Factors that impact the living and work settings)

• Tertiary Prevention: Minimize further complications or to assist in the restoration of health of an
existing disorder
