Músculo cardíaco: el corazón como bomba y la función de las válvulascardíacas
El corazón humano está formado por dos bombas: un corazón
derecho, que recibe sangre de los tejidos periféricos y la bombea
hacia los pulmones, y un corazón izquierdo, que recibe la sangre
oxigenada de los pulmones y la bombea de nuevo hacia los órganos
periféricos. Cada una de estas bombas está formada por una aurícula
y un ventrículo. La aurícula funciona como un conducto y una bomba
cebadora que llena los ventrículos con sangre. Los ventrículos se
contraen y aportan una presión alta a la sangre, que es la responsable
de su propulsión hacia la circulación. El corazón posee un sistema de
conducción especial que mantiene su propia ritmicidad y transmite los
potenciales de acción a través de los músculos cardíacos.
