(n.d.) Carbohydrates are of prime importance in the human diet. (Williams' essentials of nutrition and diet therapy. 2011) There are two forms of Carbohydrates that occur in plant foods: -Sugars -Starch Its main function is to supply energy to the cells especially brain cells by converting sugars into glucose.
