Project Management (PM) is a holistic approach that strives to represent the interest of all affected
functions in an organization. So primary function is COORDINATION. Therefore, PM cannot be subject
to the control of any functional departments.
Mission

- Defines the customer(s), critical processes and it informs you about the desired level of
performance.

planning, organizing, and directing the completion of specific projects for an organization
while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope

- Functional organizations: Hierarchical type of organization (e.g. Manufacturing, Production)
o Employees are grouped as per their area of specialization supervised by their
functional manager with expertise in the same field

The project manager needs to align with other department's leaders to achieve implication
of changes at the employee level.
