Introduction
In this assignment I will be going over the different type of methodologies that can be used in an
organisation to complete a longer type of task that needs to have separate stages and have a group
of people to complete these stages one at a time in a certain order to ensure that the task is
completed efficiently and to the best ability of the people that are working on this project.
Different methodologies:
Scrum method
What is the scrum method?
The scrum method is a methodology that implements and uses the parts of the agile methodology
such as the quick and short sprints that are involved and allow the workers to get different part of
the project to be completed faster as everyone focus on that single part and everyone moves on the
at the same time so work is completed quickly and efficiently as everyone’s focus is on the same
task. The scrum method does not have a set leader that dictates what everyone is meant to do the
people involved need to organise and manage themselves, having the people manage themselves
would be beneficial to teams that are highly skilled and have a high level of focus to dedicate
themselves to making sure that the project is completed this team would also need to have a lot of
experience to make sure that this project is completed to the best they can and as fast as they can
however the opposite is also true if the team is not highly focused, skilled and have a lot of
experience.
How does the scrum method work?
The scrum method works by making the team that is using this methodology follow a set order of
tasks that need to be completed this means that the team all know what task to follow without the
need of external input. This order would mainly consist of sprints a lot like the agile methodology to
make sure that there is minimum time spent on certain tasks to increase the amount of time spent
on other tasks. The scrum method does not allow the team to go back once they have completed a
task but they are able to re do the tasks once everything is completed and they can begin again from
the start over and over.
, Advantages –
One advantage of using the scrum method is that there it allows for better scheduling compared to
other methodologies as it allows you to clearly see and list what needs to be completed now and
what is next on the list. Another advantage is that this methodology allows for better prioritising for
the different sections as you and the group can only focus on the specific parts together so the work
gets done faster.
Disadvantages –
A disadvantage of the scrum method is the fact that there is no set end date to have the work
finished by and there is no set time that we should spend on each part of the methodology which
means that it will either be finished over a long date or it will be completed early and rushed
through. A different disadvantage is that there is no flexibility when going through the stages as you
are unable to go backwards to amend a past mistake until you have finished all the other stages
again.
The management structure has a project manager to ensure that the next tasks are clear and easy to
follow and to make sure that the project team, which can be filled with either experienced or
inexperienced people, follow the tasks correctly and in order in unison with everyone else. The
product owner is also incorporated into this methodology however they will mainly be
communicating with the project manager to make sure that the project team is able to reflect the
idea that the project owner wants the project to go in.
The last member in the management structure is the project team this is the team that will do the
work and they will follow the scrum methodology when completing work, the project team is the
most important member of the project team as they are the ones that complete the work and put
the project owner’s idea on a page.
This methodology is a methodology that can be used in numerous of different situations as it allows
the team to target specific sections on a large task and makes them complete the sections one at a
time to ensure that everything is completed correctly and with all focus on that one part however
