David Hume (1711-1776)Hume was an empiricist-meaning he believed that we can only rely on our sensory arguments to formulate
arguments.
Hume made his criticism of the design argument 23 years before Paley wrote his analogy of the watch.
Hume also criticized the cosmological argument
David Hume was uncomfortable with the reasoning behind the cosmological argument.
Hume had 4 major challenges:
Fallacy of composition: just because we observe cause and effect IN the universe does not mean
the rule applies to the universes itself.
