● Wereldwijde handelscontacten, handelskapitalisme en het begin van een
wereldeconomie
6.1 DE OPSTAND IN EUROPEES PERSPECTIEF
Frankrijk:
● 16e en 17e eeuw spanningen door godsdienst
● Calvinisme in zuiden en westen
● Vorst vond dit niet echt leuk, maar was geen fan van onderdrukking -> latere
koningen wel -> Franse adel verdeeld tussen katholiek en hugenoot -> beiden willen
koning voor hun winnen, maar macht beperken
● Rust in 1598 toen hugenoten enige vrijheid van godsdienst kregen
Duitse Rijk:
● Veel kleine koninkrijken -> sommigen kozen nieuw geloof -> ruzie Karel V (katholiek)
- Vorsten hielden van zelfstandigheid en streden tegen Karel V
- Godsdienstvrede van Augsburg in 1555 erkende de keizer dat elke vorst
eigen geloof en onderdanen volgen, beperkingen macht en zorgde voor halve
eeuw rust
● 1618 opnieuw verdeeldheid -> 30-jarige oorlog
- Katholieke Habsburgse keizers wilden macht uitbreiden -> protestanten en
katholieken zorgden voor verzet, want buitenlandse mogendheden vochten
hun strijd in Duits grondgebied -> land raakte uitgeput
● 1648 oorlogsmoe -> vrede van Westfalen ->
- Duitse vorsten gezag hersteld
- Keizer niet geslaagd in centralisatie
- Godsdienst zelf bepalen (vorst)
- Onderdanen mochten zelf bepalen, maar als anders dan optiefen
Reconquista probeerde uit te breiden naar Noord-Afrika -> Ottomaanse Rijk -> Soldaten die
succes boekten kregen stuk land, waardoor steeds meer nieuw land nodig was -> vanaf 16e
eeuw heel Noord-Afrika. -> Dwang Europese staten tot samenwerking.
Katholieke voelden zich van 2 kanten aangevallen. Turks rijk nooit helemaal veroverd, omdat
ze van meerdere kanten aangevallen werden (Spanje). Ottomaanse Rijk veroverde
meerdere malen Europees grondgebied en Balkan (tot 19e eeuw), maar na 1683 niet meer.
Karel V en Filips II -> centralisatie -> Nederlandse ketters waren majesteitsschennis ->
bloedplakkaten -> verbieden ketterij.
