1. INTRODUCTION


This paper shows the systematic structure in which Amazon’s project plan becomes a

success in the deployment of a self-service portal platform for sites that were internally built by

internal and external stakeholders, employees and the IT Team in specific, to produce Microsoft

SharePoint 2010 and a SQL Server 2010 Enterprise storage database to the Amazon Web

Services (Amazon Web Service) cloud. This project plan should have all stakeholders to engage

in the development of the project. Main stakeholders are the director of this project, employees

who take part in the design and implementation process of the upgraded application versions, and

shareholders (Jeff Bezos, Fidelity Management& Research Company) who will sponsor part of

the project’s plan. Similarly the project will also require the involvement of external stakeholders

e.g. Microsoft, which is their main competitor in terms of cloud storage, online sellers, customers

and local community members. In converting this process, other than the AWS Cloud offering

the on-demand resources such as the SQL server 2010, we will need to run prior solutions and

also provide a systematic way to outline the provision and configuration of defined steps so that

deployment is easy. This project’s outline towards the completion of the upgrade process include;

, 2. PROJECT CHARTER


2.1 Business Needs


Upon deployment of this process, the project instantly adapts to the corresponding

business transformation framework. When users decide to run SharePoint 2010 on the Amazon

Web services, they are able to add capacity as required, with minimized lead time. The project

therefore can be scaled either up or down since the overall business needs is heavily dependent

on change. The introduction of this project therefore makes the project’s objectives stay ahead of

the curve by making an adjustment on time in minutes an hours and not in days or weeks.


Amazon web services, upon the completion of this project, is envisaged to offer low

pricing based on pay-as-you-go, that reduces costs on hardware acquisition thus allowing for

customers pay for the only specified capacity they need. Top executive management,

stakeholders and sponsors will be accountable for the cost of the AWS Services that will be used

in running the Quick Start Reference deployment. This project plan restricts any additional cost

for the use of the Quick Start. The AWS cloud formation based on the upgrade of SharePoint

2010 deployed will include configuration pre-requisites that customers can customize and other

settings such as the number of instances and various kinds of instances, which can extensively

affect the project’s deployment cost.

The Amazon Project manager is responsible for managing the designed process of taking

counter measures on any problem that may happen to customers; such as Data breach SharePoint

security concern or need for further advancement of the cloud computing technology to create a

robust environment through which there is sufficient room for collaboration and communication

to help in the innovation process around customer solutions. The project manager will help

consumers experience engagements on a high quality level around Amazon consulting service

line (SharePoint 2010) in a wide client environment.


2.3 Project sponsor


The project sponsor is the crucial element in our project development plan. The project

sponsor being a major stakeholder he/she can be a business member. In most cases the project

plan requires the information system management who may at times be project sponsors. As we

plan on having this project running (upgraded SharePoint 2010 into amazon cloud services), the

project sponsor is responsible for initiating projects. After the project is initiated and ready to go,

the project sponsor progressively will sign off the projects’ funding. As we continue on with our

project, the project sponsor will be receiving periodic project status updates on the each

continuous process the project undergoes i.e. from revising the prior project on SharePoint 10

link with the amazon web services, to implementing and deploying the upgraded project process.
