Materialen: §1.1Natuurlijke materialen: Materialen die door de natuur worden geproduceerd. Dus die je van
oorsprong in de natuur ziet. → (bijvoorbeeld: hout, steen)
● Ijzer tref je in de natuur. Ijzer moet je maken. Daarvoor heb je Grondstoffen
nodig.
○ Grondstoffen: stoffen die je nodig hebt om materialen te maken die je
niet in de natuur kan vinden.
Synthetische materialen: Materialen die je met chemische processen uit grondstoffen moet
maken. → (bijvoorbeeld: ijzer, baksteen, glas)
Kunststoffen: Synthetisch materiaal dat (grotendeels) uit aardolie bestaat.
→ ze worden meestal gesynthetiseerd door aardolie. → proces dat nodig is om van aardolie
een kunststof te maken is vervuilend en aardolie is tegenwoordig schaars. → biologische
grondstoffen gebruikt. → hernieuwbare grondstof: Een grondstof die nooit opraakt.

Wanneer een materiaal een zuiver stof is(stof die bestaat uit 1 soort molecuul) dan spreek je
over stofeigenschappen : eigenschappen van een zuivere stof.

Hydrofoob: Een materiaal dat waterafstotend is. (het laat water slecht binnen)
Hydrofiel: Een materiaal dat water absorbeert en doorlaat. Ook stoffen die goed oplossen in
water heten hydrofiel.

Elektrische geleidbaarheid: Hoe goed stoffen en materialen elektriciteit geleiden.
