, QUESTION ONE
1 Outline three key events in early Islamic history. Deduce some key lessons for current day
life.
For this question, I will analyze three significant events in Islamic history and how we might draw life lessons
from them in the twenty-first century. I will walk you through a very quick timeline beginning with the creation
of the holy Kaaba, migration to Medina, the conflicts, and finally, Mecca's conquest. These historical events,
in my opinion, are incredibly significant since they encompass enormous achievements and advancements
in the Islamic role throughout history. This essay is by no means exhaustive or comprehensive, but it will
summarize my thoughts on early historical events and how, backed up by well-researched points, I believe
they link to the 21st century's true wisdom.
The road to prophethood:
Reconstructing the Ka’bah
The prophet Muhammed's (p.b.u.h.) pure and beneficial character was highly visible in the reconstruction of
Islam's holy features since it revealed the Prophet's (p.b.u.h.) character and demonstrated his popularity in
virtues such as truthfulness and reliability. When a devastating flood devastated much of Mecca's
infrastructure, the Quraishi tribe [Mecca's most influential tribe at the time] began reconstructing the Ka'bah.
Numerous Quraish tribes banded together to assist in the reconstruction. This was a highly noble process,
and tribal leaders were assigned to assist in the construction of the Kaaba, brick by brick. However, when
the precious Blackstone was to be placed, disagreements emerged as leaders argued over who would lay
the stone. It was at this point that the Prophet's (p.b.u.h.) true diplomacy shone through. He resolved the
matter by participating all of the Quraish's leaders in relocating the stone. From this point forward, his title of
Al-Ameen, the trustworthy and truthful, gained widespread recognition. The irony is that the Quraish were
well aware from the start of the Prophet's (p.b.u.h.) personality. He never uttered a lie and they never trusted
anyone more than they trusted him; unfortunately, many of them allowed arrogance to overpower them and
led them wrong by ignoring his message and abusing his rights when he attempted to propagate his
message.
The life lesson that we can take from this historic occasion in the twenty-first century is the importance of
diplomacy and having a clear conscience when engaging in diplomacy. There are so few people that can be
considered trustworthy or truthful in this day and age. Individuals seeking power and control act with ulterior
goals, in contrast to prophets, whose intention was solely to unite people and demonstrate how oneness is
strength and divisiveness is weakness.
