, Hoofdstuk 1 - The self-creating universe and other
absurdities
In 1998, Princeton physicist J. Richard Gott published a novel answer to the ultimate
question of the universe’s origin. Their paper was called: ‘can the universe create itself’. in
this paper, Gott drew a time-loop universe:
In this time-loop universe, there is no origin since the bottom is a never-ending loop. This
loop does have different branches on it called ‘trumpets’ which represent different universes.
The loop repeats itself so that it could be possible that the universe created itself.
Multiverses
in the ‘normal’ language, the UNIVERSE means everything that there is as in universal.
However, according to cosmologist Andrei Linde, our universe is part of the multiverse.
where we think that the big bang origin and the evolution of the UNIVERSE is the start of
everything, Linde thinks that that is only the beginning of our branch from a pre-existing
cosmos. meaning that each universe has its own big bang and evolutionary scenario. this
could result in new branches evolving from our universe, maybe that is already the case.
Telescope
Before the earlier 20th century, there weren’t that many good telescopes in the world. After
this, a telescope was created with a 100-inch diameter which was a huge upgrade. Later a
200-inch diameter telescope was created and a 400-inch diameter. The larger the diameter,
the more light can be absorbed and thus a better picture of the galaxy can be made. the
amount of light quadruples for each doubling in diameter. In 1990, the launch of the Hubble
Space Telescope gave astronomers a better telescope since it was located above the
distorting effects of the earth atmosphere. Which compensated for the modest 94-inch
diameter. Later a new kind of telescope was discovered which was a cosmic telescope. This
