Introduction: Organizational Leadership C158
Healthcare is a multi-faceted system that has many integral parts. A vast understanding
of how the healthcare system is maintained for its clients and staff is of vital importance for those
in leadership roles. Many different avenues in the healthcare industry require organizational
leadership and interprofessional team development in order to gain the knowledge needed to stay
current with the many changes being made in our healthcare system as a whole. Local hospital
administration and leadership teams are just a small part of the huge machine that is the
healthcare industry in this country. They play a huge role in keeping community medical centers
running smoothly, individual hospitals current with all the requirements necessary to keep local
hospitals open and incompliance with state and federal laws.

The organization researched for this project has many policies and procedures in place for
the safety of both its clientele and staff members. This organization has a specific website where
all policies and procedures can be found if there is ever a question regarding the expectations,
requirements and/or reasons behind such rules. Recently, this organization went through a
grueling process and audit in order to keep its DNV Accreditation and surpassed all expectations
from the previous year.
Business practices for this organization make a great effort to focus on patient-centered
care. This organization’s Mission is to provide exceptional care without exception, every patient,
every time. Accreditation for this healthcare system include DNV (under the authority of CMS –
and is compliant with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System), American College of
Surgeons (for the Burn Center and the Adult and Pediatric Trauma Centers) and the American
Burn Association. This healthcare system participates in many quality measurement programs,

such as, DNV, NDNQI and the AHA. This organization is also requesting nursing applicants to
already have a BSN or be actively enrolled in a BSN program. This facility has policies,
procedures and documentation requirements for full body assessments upon admission to check

assessment/documentation guidelines, HAP assessment/documentation guidelines, etc. The

healthcare organizations and/or systems in the United States. An organization being accredited
and certified by the joint commission is recognized throughout the nation as being committed to
meeting certain quality performance standards (jointcommission.org.2017). Organizations
participation in the Joint Commission is voluntary, however, Medicare, Medicaid and most other
insurance companies will not reimburse for services rendered if these healthcare systems do not
have these accreditations.
The CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) have a value-based purchasing

of care provided to the patient (cms.gov.2017). Medicare can deny reimbursement to a facility
and/or characterize certain diagnosis as “no-pay” events for hospital acquired infections or other
