PTSD is something I live with every day, but some days it affects me more than others . . . I have
nightmares, and sometimes I get flashbacks to what happened. I operate at this level of alertness
other people don't understand. It's easy to startle me, and at times I'm afraid . . . I'm afraid of
situations I wouldn't have been afraid of before I was sexually assaulted. I'm hypervigilant. I don't like
to be alone in a room with men. It's hard for me to trust people, to be vulnerable . . . That's probably
why all of my relationships have crashed and burned. I can't let people get close to me. It's hard for
me to have fun. There are other symptoms, but those are the ones I notice the most.
