Introduction
Language through an African lens as a module is specifically focused on
understanding and sensitivity to linguistic and cultural diversity. It is also focused on
appreciating our cultural background and those of the others within our societies. It
accordingly uses the principle of Ubuntu to facilitate unity amongst different
individuals regardless of colour and traditions. This project will discuss the
fundamental aspects I learnt from this module and how they have affected my former
stance about certain issues relating to the subject matter. Aspects such as the
structure of my family, idiolect, perspectives on the principle of Ubuntu and the
importance of traditional practices will also be discussed.
