Unit 5 Assignment 3
Strategies and Resources
My name is.........and I have secured my placement at the office of a local chamber of commerce and
will be continuing my report about international business. I will initially explore one company, as I
am required to write a research study that examines the performance of one company's plans and
resources and now trades internationally. In order to analyse the strategies, secondary research is
conducted and the reasons for using them are the international uses. The outcome of this study is
apparent, assessing the success of the tactics and resource. This conclusion is fully substantiated by
well-balanced arguments and reinforced by good use of evidence from study.
McDonalds is an American multinational company that sells fast food with 37,855 stores around the
world operating in over 100 counties. The business was founded in 1940 In the United States as a
restaurant run by Richard and Maurice McDonald. Their main target customer is parents with young
children and teenagers and is effective as the company is worth £163.90B. McDonalds sells a mixture
of fast food from:
1. Big mac
2. Mocha Frappé
3. Milkshakes
McDonalds provide a variety of food but primarily sell fast food such as burgers and fries. due to
their target market, an example of this is parents with children or young teenager, McDonalds sell
happy meals as well as healthy options for the children. They have committed to various actions
such as offering fruit and vegetable options instead of fries, to ensure the best health for their
clients. Moreover, another variable for why they enforced these options is to match customer
preferences and demands. As for McDonalds menu, they supply a diverse menu of foods such as
wraps, nuggets and ice-cream. In addition, McDonalds also have a different menu for different times
of the day, this being their breakfast menu form 5am – 11am.
McDonald's was established in 1940 in California. It began with brothers Maurice and Richard
McDonald as a fast-food restaurant. Before the company explored the franchise market, the owner
made the company become a restaurant and a hamburger provider. The emblem called the Golden
Arches began to be used in 1953. Ray Kroc bought McDonald's chain after joining the business in
1955. in Chicago, Illinois, is where the current headquarters of McDonalds operates. McDonald's is
regarded as the world's largest restaurant chain in terms of sales. It has roughly 37,000 restaurants
worldwide since 2017 and is still currently expanding.
, Name:
McDonalds operates in various developed economies, like Germany or China for example with over
37,855 stores globally and by doing so it opens millions of job opportunities for the public. The main
target customer for McDonalds includes parents with young children or teenagers as they are more
inclined to buy fats food at a restaurant like McDonalds. As for chosen market, products are
influenced by where the company operates. The company are trying to adjust their menus to suit
different preferences and cultural factors for each country in which they operate by adapting the
menus that best serve them. This is due to the different religions and beliefs across the world, this
means that not all people eat the same foods in every country. As a result of this, McDonalds will be
expanding their menu in order to match the preferences of diverse foods.
An example of diversification in their products is how McDonalds sell Dosa masala burger to cater
the preferences of customers in India. There is a huge customer base in India and McDonald's menu
has been tailored to meet local needs and preferences. One feature of India has been that half of its
population are vegetarians, therefore necessary to establish a separate menu. McDonald's
throughout India provides different foods like Veggie Burger, McAllo Chaat and McVeggie Charred
for example in order to cater for vegetarian customers. In India McDonald's introduced a menu
without beef or pork products, as well as special products for Indian culture as well as tastes. In
addition, all vegetarian items, including mayo, were made without eggs and 100% vegetarian.
Another example of McDonalds diversified menu is in Thailand, McDonalds serve Mckao Panang,
which is a mild Thia curry. In different countries, the ingredients used for each of the meals will differ
in comparison to other countries due to preferences and religious beliefs throughout the countries.
This dish contains various meets ranging from chicken, pork, beef and fish. Due to different
preferences, customers can choose which meets they want within their food to best suit their
demands and increase customer satisfaction. For example, pork is not halal, therefore customers
have the choice on whether or not they want these meets on their foods.
