Dogville es un drama policiaco, un thriller psicológico, a color, el cual se nos
presenta mediante un ángulo cenital emblemático. Gracias a un gran plano general
enfocado desde arriba (elaborado en el ordenador, ya que resultaba imposible
hacerlo in situ por la altura que se necesitaba para abarcar un plano tan grande)
podemos observar todo el pueblo de Dogville, apreciando ya la peculiar
escenografía.
Con una luz artificial,
difusa, y clave tonal
media, el filme
transcurre de una manera
lineal durante toda su
elaboración, aunque no
podemos ignorar la
presencia de luz
contrastada y de una clave tonal baja en ciertas escenas nocturnas como se da al
final de la película donde la escena se ve envuelta en un manto nocturno
interrumpido por una luz blanca desconocida.
En cuanto a movimientos de cámara, podemos apreciar un gran uso de la cámara
en mano, técnica bastante utilizada en este tipo de películas catalogadas como
películas de Dogma95.
Como no iba a ser de otra manera el método de transición por excelencia es el
corte, que se da entre plano y plano durante todo el metraje a excepción de los
fundidos a negro de los que hacen uso para introducirnos el nuevo capítulo a
seguir.
En cuanto al ritmo es “In crescendo”, comienzan contándonos la historia de
Grace, quien llega al pueblo de Dogville huyendo de unos gángsters; el pueblo
“generosamente” decide ocultarla. (inicio)
