It was a cold morning and you could still see the frost on the leaves. A
month ago, I decided to move to another city, so I packed my stuff and
loaded the truck. A couple hours later, I arrived at my new home. This
house was in the middle of nowhere so I wouldn’t be anywhere near other
people. I have always been a lone wolf and here I can be totally alone in
the woods. This house can be a new start for me. After I unloaded the
truck, it was getting dark. I wanted to get fresh air so I walked into the
woods. The trees were all in weird shapes and it looked like they were
staring at me. The wind fanned and it seemed like there were voices
around me. I looked at my watch and I saw it was already 10 pm. Walking
my way back to the house, I saw a little girl playing with her dolls. As I
walked towards her, she began to scream. The noise was unbearable.
Running away from the screaming girl, I tripped over an old branch. I
scratched my arm but I didn’t notice. All I wanted was to get away from
that creepy girl. I began to see my house but I started to feel nauseous.
The next thing I remembered is waking up in the kitchen.
I wasn’t able to eat for five hours but I decided to grab some food
on my way to the neighbors. The nearest house was about 30 minutes
walking. I made myself a sandwich and walked through the woods to my
neighbors. I arrived when they were just about to leave. They had
suitcases in their hands and it looked like they were going away for the
weekend. I asked them about a little girl who lives nearby and I described
the creepy girl from the woods. My question definitely overwhelmed them
and they both winced. The woman explained to me I was describing her
late daughter. Apparently, her daughter was killed 2 years ago when she
was playing in the woods. They had never found the killer but their search
never ended. I suddenly felt very anxious and I headed home. I started to
look for more information about the girl. After a while I found the site of
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. It was getting late and I didn’t want to go to sleep
with a dead girl in my mind, so I went to the living room and unpacked
my stuff. I was getting tired and decided to sleep on the couch since my
bed hadn’t arrived yet. I was trying to get comfortable when I heard the
front door squeak. Immediately, my mind went nuts and I thought of the
girl in the woods. I didn’t have the courage to take a look but a couple of
minutes later I heard the door close again. It was a bit windy here so it
could be the wind, was what I was telling myself to put my mind at ease.
A cold breeze woke me up. My front door was wide open and a lot of
my boxes were moved. Was somebody in my house? I tried to fall asleep
again but that girl kept crossing my mind. I went back to my computer
and searched again for the girl. But everything was deleted. How was this
possible? I started to feel anxious again and I didn’t like the idea of
somebody in my house. Could it be the little girl from the woods? But the
Johnsons said she was dead for more than two years. Not knowing what
to do, I dialed 991. In no time the police were at my house and searched
everything. I couldn’t help but overhear the conversation between two
