Gender
o = de psychosociale aspecten die horen bij je geslacht
Genderidentiteit
o = iemands subjectieve gevoel/beleving een jongen of een meisje te zijn
o Ontwikkeling van GI gebeurt al zeer vroeg (op 2 a 3jarige leeftijd!)
Genderrol
o = het observeerbaar gedrag dat volgens maatschappelijke normen mannelijk of vrouwelijk
wordt genoemd
Seksuele oriëntatie/voorkeur
o = tot wie men zich seksueel aangetrokken voelt (hetzelfde geslacht, het andere geslacht of
beide).
o Let op! Dit is ook nog verschillend soms van de romantische aantrekking en de zelfbenoeming
(deze drie dimensies kunnen soms allemaal verschillend zijn).
DE GENDERKOEK
Heel belangrijk dat je de verschillende begrippen correct hanteert! We onderscheiden eigenlijk 4
componenten als we spreken over je gender
Geslacht:
o Dit is biologisch bepaald. Je wordt geboren met een penis of vagina. Sommige
mensen worden gebeuren met beide geslachtskenmerken: deze worden
benoemd als interseks. Dit geslacht bepaald ook andere kenmerken van je
lichaam zoals lichaamsbeharing en lichaamsvorm. Dit gebeurt allemaal op basis
van de hormonen in het lichaam.
Identiteit:
o Dit gaat over hoe je innerlijk gevoel is. Je kunt je identificeren als 'eerder mannelijk', 'eerder
vrouwelijk' of 'vrouwelijk en mannelijk tegelijk'. Je identiteit hoeft helemaal niet samen te
vallen met je biologisch geslacht.
Expressie:
o Dit gaat over hoe je je uit via gedraging, kledij of reacties. Dit kan opnieuw 'eerder mannelijk',
'eerder vrouwelijk' of 'beide door elkaar' zijn. Het betekent dus, net zoals bij je identiteit, dat
dit niet hoeft gelijk te lopen met je geslacht.
Aantrekking:
o Dit gaat over je seksualiteit: tot wie voel je je aangetrokken? Opnieuw heb je hier heel veel
variatie in. Homo, Lesbisch, Biseksueel, Panseksueel en Aseksueel zijn maar enkele van de
voorbeelden in dit spectrum. (valt ook uiteen in rom aantrekking, seksuele aantrekking en
zelfbenoeming)
