Why do we work? That's the question I'd like to address regarding the perspective of society
as a whole and mine. Why is it that every morning we must drag ourselves out of bed
against our will to go to work and fulfill the dreams of someone else? Although it goes
without saying that we need to be able to financially support ourselves since doing so is
essential to maintaining life, the vast majority of people believe that this is not the primary
reason why having a job is such an important part of our lives. In my opinion, a job ought to
be enjoyable, energizing, meaningful, and most importantly engaging in order to be
considered successful. It is not a particularly compelling argument to use the pursuit of
material rewards as a justification for the effort that we put into something. If the major
purpose of the person you are working for is to gain money and position him or herself as a
powerful figure in the world, then the time that you spend working is not being utilized to
its fullest potential. You are essentially engaging in work that is repeated, and it appears as
though you labored for around forty hours throughout that week so that you might relax
during the remaining time on the weekend before beginning the process all over again. This
may sound exciting to some individuals, but I can honestly say that it does not pique my
curiosity in any way. Why is it that most people all over the world do not have access to the
conveniences that would enable them to get out of bed and get going first thing in the
