Churchill believed that the 'English-speaking peoples', the Anglo Saxon world
community, including the USA and the dominations in the Empire, had
natural bonds and would stand together to defend democracy and freedom.

Though he agreed to the Atlantic Charter, he had no plans to extend
the democratic principles into the non-white parts of the Empire.
The British colonies were expected to provide troops and also food and
raw materials for the war effort but received no steps towards a
greater self-government.

and restated his commitment to maintaining it.
