Terminologie: duidelijk kunnen omschrijven, een definitie of een synoniem
kunnen geven:
- Atoomgetal
Het aantal protenen in de kern van een atoom.
- Massagetal
De som van het aantal protonen en het aantal neutronen in de kern.
- Atoomgewicht
Gemiddelde gewicht van een atoom.
- Isotoop
Vormen van een element waarvan de atomen hetzelfde aantal protonen,
maar verschillende aantal neutronen bevatten (hierdoor hebben ander
atoomgewicht).
- Ion
Atoom/molecuul dat positief of negatief is geladen doordat het 1/meer
elektronen heeft afgestaan of opgenomen.
► Kationen = ionen met positieve lading.
► Anionen = ionen met negatieve lading.
- Stabiel atoom
Atoom met een volledig gevulde buitenste schil.
- Instabiel atoom
Atoom met een onvolledige gevulde buitenste schil. Kunnen stabiliteit
verkrijgen via chemische reacties met andere atomen.
- Omkeerbare reactie
Twee tegengestelde reacties die tegelijk plaatsvinden waarvan de eerste
een synthesereacties is en de tweede een afbraakreactie
evenwichtreactie wordt bereikt.
- Enzym (figuur 2-19, pagina 57)
Een eiwit dat een specifieke biochemische reactie katalyseert.
- Katalysator
Een stof die de snelheid van een bepaalde chemische reactie beïnvloedt
zonder zelf vebruikt te worden.
