blood covered Macbeth and later spread to her.
In act 2, scene 2 Shakespeare is covered in King
Duncan's blood using Blood on a person's hands to
express guilt. Lady Macbeth shows an internal expression
of guilt and remorse through her mental breakdowns
instead of the blood on hands shown by Macbeth.
“All the perfumes in Arabia could not sweeten this little
hand.” she is disgusted by the act she committed and
believes nothing could cure her of her sin.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth swap as the play continues.
Lady Macbeth says, “a little water clears us of the dead.”
She has very little remorse for the acts Macbeth
committed; however, as the play continues, she regrets
the choice to kill Duncan. Oppositely Macbeth says,
“Cawdor shall sleep no more, Macbeth shall sleep no
more.” he immediately regrets the decision however
becomes more of a cutthroat tyrant almost swapping
traits with Lady Macbeth.
By act 5 scene 1 lady Macbeth has begun her descent
into madness. She has been seen sleepwalking showing
how her mind has been broken. She says “out spot out
