Unit 6 – Assignment B

Assignment Brief
You have recently joined a web development company, Hot Beans Web as a junior web developer.
You have been asked as part of your induction and training to create a new section for the
company’s web site which promotes the company to prospective employees, as they need to recruit
more web developers. The company wants you to include the following things:

• A profile of the company itself
• profiles of existing trainee web developers
• job specifications and required qualifications
• an online application form.
• links to web development courses

The target audience for the site is people who have completed training courses or qualifications
related to web development and are now looking for a job as a web developer.

Client Requirements
The client is the individual who has placed an order for a website to be constructed. My client, Hot
Beans Web, has asked me to create a website to help them attract and recruit more web developers.
They would like me to include at least five pages for: A profile of the company itself, profiles of
existing trainee web developers, job specifications and required qualifications, an on-line application
form, links to web development courses. They may want me to add some direct links and hyperlinks
to their social platforms for more publicity.

Intended Audience
My target audience are those that going to be visiting and using the website. They are my focus
point as I will need to be attracting them to the website initially and encourage them to revisit the
site to look at information for the job role and end up applying. In this case my intended audience
are those who have completed training courses or have qualifications related to web development,
even those with no experience and are now looking for a job as a web developer. This could count
for people who are 25 and over so I need to ensure that my website design caters to this audience
and the content published is interesting and informative to them.

Problems to be solved
The problem that ,Hot Beans Web’ have is that they have need to recruit more web developers for
their company. This will be solved by producing a website that entices and encourages web
developers to submit an application. I need to ensure that the content displayed is for that target
audience and is interesting to them.

Constraints that may arise during the project
Constraints are the limitations that my website could have. Due to me not having a lot of experience
creating a website and have not started any training it could cause my website to not be as effective
as I would like it to be. The only experience with web developing that I have had is with Wix which is
quite basic and easy to use. Luckily, no major expenses must be made as the software being used
called ‘Rocket cake’ is cheap and affordable but due to the price it may not come out as professional
as intended.

Due to my lack of experience in development of a website, I will be spending more time learning
how to use Rocket Cake and ensuring everything is how I want it that it may take more time then
intended and the set deadline is May the 5th which gives me about a month for completion.

Unit 6 – Assignment B

For security I will be saving all the work done on OneDrive which means any work can be accessed
remotely and if any of the files were to be removed or not accessible on PC, there will be an online
version. Only down fall being that if the internet were to go down then would be inaccessible.

Benefits
The reason clients will approach a website developer is for the potential benefits that a website will
bring to their business. The benefits for businesses having a website include Advertising for your
products, accessibility to it at any time any place if there is internet connection meaning there is no
need to turn away customers compared to having a store where there is closing and opening hours.
Other websites may link to the site spreading the word of the website and creating more traffic and
maximising the overall audience. It also gives me an opportunity to gain long term clients instead of
just customers, who will remain loyal to me and visit the site regularly gaining more applications.

Interactivity
Interactive features that will be on my website will be the application form users will have the ability
to input and submit information and have a message response. There also will be hyperlinks and
buttons to the social media platforms and will direct a user to a different web page. Videos which
will either be downloaded or linked on the web page will be interactive as the user will have the
ability pause and play the video.

Complexity
My website is not going to be complex it is going to have a minimum number of pages with an easy
navigation system, majority being the requirements needed for my client and a contact and home
page for structure. By having a site that is not complex and quite simple to understand users will visit
the site more regularly and will find it easy to focus and move about and around the site, engraving
the sites format and structure within their head so it becomes routine. Rocket Cake is not complex
or difficult to use however you do need to get a hold of who to work with and navigate around the
software to create an enticing website. This may not be the best software to use however this will
still give me the ability to create a site that meets the requirements of my clients.
