ASSIGNMENT 02 (a)The scientific quality of a research project is essentially determined by the validity of each
aspect (planning, implementation, conclusions) thereof. If any aspect of the research is valid
if it is completely in line with the research problem. The planning of the research is valid if it
is completely in line with the research problem. The implementation of a research project is
steered by the aim of the research. Research conclusions are derived from the research
focus and the data which has been collected and interpreted to shed light on the research
problem.
ASSIGNMENT 02 (b)
1. Yes, these sentences link as they all speak about elements of curriculum
implementation and its importance for learners’ knowledge development. Educators
are mentioned in multiple parts of the passage, which all links to the school system
and its curriculum.
2. Yes, this passage has a few elements of emotional language. Some of the emotional
words/ strong adjectives used in the passage is: phenomenal and excellent. These
words are used to influence what the reader feels when studying the passage. The
author is attempting to influence the readers positive feelings to the value of
educators and their role in implementing the curriculum. These words may also be
seen as objective as one may see something as phenomenal, and another person
will not. Using strong adjectives and emotional words takes the academic validity of
the passage away, and seems more like a personal piece of writing.
3. The author has used generalisations in this passage without providing proof. It can
be seen in sentence two with the word “always”. It is a generalisation to say
curriculum implementation always allows for thinking and learning new things every
day. The author does not know this to be true as there is no academic research that
backs it up. Secondly, in sentence three, the world “generally” is a generalisation.
The author believes educators are always well equipped for difficulties with the
curriculum. He/ she is making a general statement a claim, once again with no proof
or scientific evidence.
4. In sentence two, the author states that policy experts believe educators are exposed
to new ideas and elements everyday when it comes to implementing the curriculum.
The author has made an improper appeal as there is no proof or information brought
forward about the expert’s actual opinion or the educators experiences. This
statement of sentence two could be believed by many, but a statement cannot be
true just because many people believe in it. An author needs to back up all of their
writings with academic or scientific proof, ensuring no false or incorrect information is
spread around.
5. Yes, the concluding sentence is sufficient to finish the passage. The passage is
regarding curriculum implementation and how the educator plays an important role in
its success. The last sentence has links with both the curriculum and the educator
but brings to light the importance that children will also play in the curriculum. Without
a child’s dedication and participation, the educator cannot be successful in imparting
knowledge. The students and educators are vital in accomplishing curriculum
implementation.
