The Armenian Genocide


While conducting research and understanding WWI, I have depicted an incline of

fatalities consisting of individuals losing their lives because of the cold war. I do want to add

that many Armenians also lost their lives in this war. Unfortunately, however, not many

countries remember or want to remember as to why the Armenians died in this event. This

paper will introduce some of the leading causes that introduced the genocide. This paper will

also discuss why some of these causes are not vastly known.


After reading in our textbooks, I have found that the Armenian people lived in a

Caucasus region of Eurasia (History, 2010). This means that their kingdom was known to be

independent and were the first ones to declare their religion of Christianity (History, 2010).

During the fifteenth century the Armenians were ruled under the Ottoman empire which were

Muslims. The Armenian categories were known to be a threat to the Turkish people because

they had a certain thirst of growth in academics and morals. However, the Turkish people seen

this as a threat to them.


Shortly after, the Turkish government told their citizens that the Armenians were to be a

threat to them and to their government. That is when the Turks entered the War to all Christians

including the Armenians. Here is where I would like to introduce Nationalism.


Nationalism in simpler terms is a strategy of my people/country is better than yours.

This is what the Turks were trying to emphasize. They allowed imperialism to take control of

them and their people which took them over. They also used social Darwinism which gave them

the green light to show that they were more powerful than the Armenians which led to showing
