Invloed van computergames op het vertonen van agressief gedrag onder
jongeren
Abstract
Voor dit onderzoek zijn twee verschillende soorten games (gewelddadig/neutraal) gebruikt
om de invloed te testen van het spelen van computergames op het agressieve gedrag van jonge
gamers. 82 studenten (46 vrouwen, 36 mannen) aan de Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam met
een gemiddelde leeftijd van 20 jaar namen deel aan het experiment. Deze studenten doen de
volgende studies: pedagogische wetenschappen, biomedische wetenschappen, mathematiek en
psychologie. De experimentele groep speelde de gewelddadige game en de controlegroep
speelde de neutrale (niet gewelddadige) game. De niet gewelddadige game bevatte geen
gewelddadige aspecten. De gewelddadige game was gebaseerd op het uitvoeren van
gewelddadige acties door de gamer. De studenten speelde ongeveer 11 uur per week een
game. Uit de resultaten van het experiment was af te leiden dat het spelen van gewelddadige
games wel degelijk een invloed heeft op het vertonen van agressief gedrag.
