What are the advantages and challenges associated with transforming a group of diverse individuals into a cohesive team? How does diversity impact the dynamics of team building?  A group can be defined as a collection of independent people with different goals who share a common interest or experience. Even though there is a sharing of resources, each individual is accountable for his own work. For example, a group of friends.  A team, on the other hand, comprise of individuals who are dependent on each other and share responsibility to achieve a common goal. For example, a cricket team.  A group has only one leader while a team might have multiple leaders.  Probably the main difference between a group and a team is that a team acts as a cohesive unit. In a group, each individual is expected to provide individual contributions, whereas team members are expected to maximize each others strengths and cover for the shortcomings.
