Unit 18 - Assignment 1

Marketing Communications
in Retail Businesses

In this report , I would be discussing how both my chosen businesses
carry out their marketing activities. The two businesses I had chosen are
Just Eat and JD Sports and the reason why I chose them is because I am
a customer of JD Sports and I have studied in my previous reports but for
Just Eat it'll be something interesting for me to study as they come from a
whole different sector of business.

P1)

Just Eat is a business that offers the
public to order food online from the
comfort of they home and the fact that
they were the first ones to offer this
service to the public which really informs
the public that this service is going to be
something amazing for them as people
can be lazy sometimes and the app will
make it easier for them if they don't want
to cook something or go to the takeaway themselves.

The way how Just Eat informs people about their service is through many
ways and just the same as any other business would, no matter what
business sector they are from. Just Eat has their social media presence as
its free marketing for them and the world is literally becoming technology
based as generations carry on to move forward but the whole point of
them being on social media is because people are on the media whether
its Instagram or Twitter but people have made it part of their daily lives
and they can find out a lot on the media compared to TV and radio
stations. Also , Just Eat do TV adverts here and there along with Youtube
adverts but the whole purpose of them doing it on TV is because they
know people who tend to watch TV are older people , who have got
access to credit / debit cards and they will be able to use this service.

Unit 18 - Assignment 1

Just Eat persuades customers to stay with is by sending them weekly
offers as the business knows there's a lot of competition from Deliveroo
and UberEats but Just Eat know if they send customers weekly offers they
stick with them because who wouldn't want food at a discounted price
from your chosen takeaway or restaurant. Also on their website or the
app if you have an account , you can enter your postcode and see what
food places are offering today which is good for customers because no
matter what everyday there will be offers for them , this also applies for
new customers as well.

The name Just Eat says it all about them and that'sthats how they
differentiate from their competitors as the name is related to the service
they offer for the public. The name is unique including that they were the
first ones to offer this service which gives them the recognition of people
wanting to order food they can use Just Eat whereas for Uber they to had
to copy them with adding ‘ eats ’ at the end so its for Just Eat to start
this sector but they had also set boundaries for this sector due to the
competition. Also , Just Eat against their competitors they offer more as
they give customers weekly offers which keeps the connections of
customers to stay with them and they offer more to customers , giving
them more variety and options whereas their competitors offer less than
them.

Just Eat as an online business they would have to give customers
reassurance as some people may find it hard to trust onlines businesses
but with Just Eat they give the reassurance they need. The way how the
business reassured their customers is when they have placed an order ,
the app would give them a specific time when the food will arrive by and
they will give such information like the drivers name and number plate so
if there was an issue , you contact them , give them the details and Just
Eat will deal with the issue as they taking liability for whats happened.
Also same with any other business , Just Eat do offer help regarding them
which can be found on the app or on their website help page and this will
give them all the answers they need including if they do want to contact
someone from Just Eat they can do.
