similar perceptions or worldviews because these worldviews are learnt via communication
with members of the group. Kuhle on the other hand, said that members of a cultural group
differ, some individuals have a worldview that differs from members of their cultural group and
that culture is not fixed but may change over time.

Mikateko, a deputy principal at a Johannesburg private school says that the history and
literature used at the school is Eurocentric and has asked the management to use Afrocentric
history and literature. Mikateko says her role as the first black principal at the school is to
challenge the school so that it includes more black teachers as well as African history. Her
black colleagues at the school on the other hand, claim that they are Westernised and cannot
speak any African languages but only speak English with a British Accent. Mikateko’ s
colleagues say that students need to learn Western literature like they did so that they don’t
sound like village people when they visit Western countries.
