D1 - Suggest, with justifications, ways of improving motivation in an
organisational setting.
An organisation should consider a variety of potentially effective
techniques to motivate their employees with such as incentives, larger
salaries, promotion, employee of the month competition, a friendly
working atmosphere within the organisation and rewards and treats.
If employees in the organisation receive a car as a gift for being a very
valued part of the organisation then that will motivate them to work even
harder because they may get bigger and better rewards for their input to
the organisation and also those that are not yet a high class employee
would want these gifts as well which would motivate them to work even
harder and put much more effort into their work so that they do receive
these gifts which then would make them a very happy employee at the
organisation which is good because then they will continue to maintain if
not increase their efforts so they receive more rewards. These incentives
will be good for people who have a family or live far from work because
they can take their family to places themselves instead of having to use
public transport or they can drive to work which will be quicker and more
convenient for them.
Small incentives are given to employees that may have received appraisal
from their manager as a way of saying thank you for their work which
would probably be something like a bonus in their pay or a raise even.
Employees would want these bonuses regularly which will motivate them
to continue working hard in order to receive these incentives.
These incentive programs improve the performance of employees
because they are being motivated and also that incentive programs can
motivate employees that don’t put in much effort at work and increase
their performance by 22% and also team incentives can increase the
performance by 44%.
If an organisation was to give larger salaries to employees that are
working hard and deserve it then the employees with lower salaries will
want a raise in their wages also so it will make them work harder and put
more effort in so that they do receive a larger salary. It would be effective
for an organisation to use this method because money motivates a lot of
people because employees feel relaxed when they know they have more
disposable income that they can spend on whatever they want.
Promoting employees gives them a higher classed status in the working
environment which obviously every employee would want because there
are many advantages in being promoted such as having a higher salary, a
