Why the American revolution is revolutionary and why it isn’t
The American revolution is revolutionary because it resulted in a newly independent country.
There were many battles fought and the colonists gained their freedom and became the
independent country of the United states. The Declaration of Independence stated certain ideals
that the colonists believed were important for man to have, such as liberty and equality. These acts
were in part a major cause of the American Revolution because they were written and passed to
give England complete control over the thirteen colonies. The Revolution resulted in the creation of
an independent nation; British colonists became American citizens. The American revolution was
mainly revolutionary because it became a new country and gained freedom.
The American revolution wasn’t revolutionary because, it persevered existing liberties and didn’t
create new ones. Socially and economically speaking the Revolution did not have a major impact,
indeed those who were part of the ruling classes remained in the upper classes because no new
liberties/rights were made. If America wanted more independence and freedom after the
revolution, they would have added more laws and rights, however they didn’t and all of it stayed the
same. If they had made more liberties, America might have been a more powerful country and the
American revolution would have had a bigger impact on the country’s economy and politics. This
main reason the American revolution wasn’t revolutionary is basically because it didn’t create any
new liberties.
