Bij MLT-dieet de LCT (=long chain triglyceriden >12 C-atomen), aanwezig in de meeste
voedingsvetten in min of meerdere maten vervangen door de MKT (middenlangeketen triglyceriden
met middenlangeteken vetzuren 6,8 of 10 C-atomen)
MKT Komen van nature weinig voor in de voeding, wel in palmvetolie en kokosnootolie of
dieetproducten
De MKT gedragen zich zowel bij de vetering, absorptie en stofwisseling anders dan de LCT
Indicaties
MKT onmiddellijk gekoppeld aan albumine en naar bloed
Vertering, resorptie en transport verloopt gemakkelijker bij MKT’s
Indicaties
Voornaamste indicatie voor het MKT-dieet zijn stoornissen in de:
Vetvertering
Onvoldoende micelvorming:
o Bij lever- en galaandoeningen
o Normaal micelvorming nodig voor vetten wateroplosbaar te maken, voor MKT is dit
niet nodig
Zollinger-Ellisson Syndroom
o Overmatige HCl productie in de maag zorgt voor lage pH in dunne darm zorgt voor
inactiviteit van enzym lipase
Beschadiging van dunne darm slijmvlies
o Bv. Na darmresectie of voedselinfectie onvoldoende aanmaak lipase
Voordelen MKT
MKT’s moeten niet in micellen worden opgenomen (reeds wateroplosbaar)
hebben geen galzouten of lipase nodig voor de vetering
er moet geen gal- en pancreassap aangemaakt worden

Bv. Na dunne darm resectie, aantasting dunne darmslijmvlies (Crohn, glutenintolerantie of na
bestraling)
Bij vorming intestinale lipoproteïnen
Zeer zeldzaam!
Wanneer in de darm geen lipoproteïnen meer worden gemaakt (nodig voor vorming
chylomicronen)
MKT hebben geen cylomicronvorming nodig tijdens de vertering onmiddellijk opname in
bloed
Lymfevataandoeningen
Bv. Chylurie of chylothorax (verlies vethoudende lymfe in de urine/thorax)
