Romeinse Oudheid (Italië, Rome) 753vc – 467NcBelangrijkste gebouw van de romeinse oudheid is het Pantheon. Het staat in Rome, de belangrijkste
stad van het Romeinse rijk. Uitzonderlijk qua architectuur en ook nog zaken van de Griekse Oudheid
zoals het fronton, architraaf (bij Romeinen met tekst op, bij Grieken was het trigliefen en metopen),
zuilen met klassieke zuilen ordes (dorisch, ionisch, korinthisch). Constructief gaan de Romeinen verder,
ze gebruiken volle muren rondes en koepels.
Het Pantheon, Rome, oorspronkelijk 27 v.C. maar groter herbouwd onder keizer Hadrianus 125 n.C.

Italië wordt door koningen stapsgewijs “eengemaakt”, het wordt een staatsvorm met als hoofdstad
Rome. In Rome liggen havens die toegankelijk zijn via de rivier ‘Tiber’. Dit zorgt ervoor dat ze
toegankelijk zijn voor handel. De stad ligt tussen 7 heuvels en is daardoor dus sterk militair verdedigd.

Verval keizerrijk (200 – 467 nc)
- Het rijk splitst rond 300 in een west en oost Romeins Rijk (bij oost als hoofdstad
Constantinopel)
