Medical Application Critical Appraisal Guidelines

Within healthcare, there are a variety of medical applications (app) that are available to

patients and medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, physician assistants, and nurse

practitioners. Each of the medical applications applies to patient-provider communication and

interaction. The applications use advance analytical skills and critical thinking with evidence-

based research to enhance patient care. Throughout the paper, I will discuss an app that may be

used by healthcare professionals to encourage patient outcomes positively. While also providing

a patient case scenario proving the use of the app to be effective and efficient.

Name

The application that will be further investigate is called MediCalc; ScyMed produced the

app. The app has been strongly admired, appraised, and verified since 1996. MediCalc is average

with a very similar app called MediCalc, and both utilize to create medical calculations.

However, the apps are different because they do not contain the same patient-specific

computations.
